Mobile Phone Insurance & Phone Damage
If you own a mobile phone then chances are at some point you are going to be at risk of damaging it. The cold hard reality is that it does not take much to damage a phone. Just last week one of our Management team's 10 year old daughter dropped the mobile phone and the screen completely shattered like a spider's web.
So it went in to be repaired.
Over 2 MILLION mobile phones are damaged every year according to extensive research by Continental Research.
The very nature of the phone being mobile means it is at higher risk of accidental damage purely because it is being carried about. It might drop from your pocket or into the toilet (we cover liquid damage too - an estimated 1.2 phones are killed by this method alone every year according to Continental Research)
So it doesn't take a genious to realise that
1. Your phone is constantly at risk from damage - accidentally dropping it, water/liquid damage etc
2. You should probably get it insured and protect with a good mobile phone insurance
This is exactly what we offer within our phone insurance
Mobile Phone Insurance & Mobile Phone Damage
Mobile phone insurance is ideal for mobile phones - which by their very nature are portable and easily damaged while on the move.
You might drop it out of your pocket - it might fall from your car door - it might spill out from the train as you get off - or any other possible way to damage it.
You might even drop it down the toilet!
ANy which way, you need to make sure you are covered for the very likely event of damaging your phone accidentally while going about your normal life.
This is just another reason you need to get protected now with mobile phone insurance
Mobile Phone Insurance & Water Damage
Mobile phone insurance is one of those things that you suddenly consider exactly when you should have already got it...
Like when you have just dropped your phone in the washing up bowl...
Like when you dropped it down the toilet...
Like when you dropped in in a puddle
Or even when it got rained on!
An old friend of ours had her phone fried (dead) when she was cycling with her phone in her bag and it started to rain heavily. We could not salvage the phone and it had to be thrown.
Only mobile phone insurance would have helped her get a new replacement phone without her having to pay the full price (usually a few hundred pounds) to get a new mobile phone.
Phone Insurance
Do you own a mobile phone? It's a pretty good guess that you certainly do because, let's face it we all have a mobile. If you are one of the more fortunate people who owns a nice spanking new expensive phone you really should consider mobile phone insurance.
It's amazing the things that can go wrong when you least expect it. Mobile phone theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the UK and it's not always the fact that you are standing there with your phone in your hand speaking into it for it to be stolen. It could be in your handbag or your bum bag or briefcase, anywhere in fact. It can be stolen as part of another larger theft.
Damage to your phone can occur in many ways. The most obvious is dropping your phone on to the ground or hard surface. One incredible statistic which springs to mind although I don't remember the exact number involves the number of mobile phones dropped down the toilet each year in the UK.
Now, I'm not sure if you've ever managed to drop your phone down the toilet because neither have I. The one thing I do know is that you will be very lucky indeed if your phone works again after being submerged underwater.
Mobile Insurance gives you tremendous piece of mind. I don't mean you can be blasé about your phone as indeed any of your personal belongings simply because they are insured, however if you are one of those people I spoke of earlier with an expensive phone you will save your self an awful lot of money if anything bad indeed does happen.
Worth Risking Your Life ?
How far do you go to save your mobile phone? It’s crazy the things that happen simply for the sake of saving or retrieving your phone.
I know of an incident that happened near where I used to live and it was also widely reported in the local papers. A teenager was a passenger in the back of his friend’s car, and was holding his phone out of the window as they drove, trying to get a signal. Obviously, he dropped the phone, but as he did, he instinctively lunged against the door to try and catch it and the door popped open. He never made it.
I read a couple of other stories recently. One concerned 2 pals who were fishing on a lake when one dropped his phone. He jumped in to retrieve it (whatever possesses anyone to believe that their phone will ever work again?). Finding it difficult to see or swim in the slime filled lake, his friend jumped in to help him. Another fisherman came to rescue them both, but only one survived.
Some might find this equally tragic story just a tiny bit amusing. A man dropped his phone down a drain. Unfortunately it was to a sewer, but he still tried to retrieve his phone. Removing the drain cover, he edged inside with his arms above his head…and got firmly stuck. Passers-bye called the fire brigade who managed to get him out (he was a very big man) but he had already drowned.
It’s fair to say, that if all these people (and the 800,000 people in the UK who drop their phones into the toilet each year) had their mobile phones insured and the data on the sim card backed up on their pc’s (it’s easy) then they would not be so willing to put their lives at risk.
Knowing your have mobile insurance, and it’s insured for theft, water damage, loss or any other accidental damage gives peace of mind. It will certainly make you think twice before risking your life.
