Mobile Phone Insurance and Travelling

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Mobile phone insurance is necessary if you own a mobile phone which you want to keep and look after.  Thats pretty much a ‘given’.

But you need to think through the details of what, when and how you want to be covered.

Like what about when you are on holiday?

Most people take their mobile phone with them on holiday to stay in touch with back home.

The trouble is you are just as likely to have your phone lost stolen or damaged – in fact potentially *more* likely…

When you go abroad you may be at a higher risk of losing you phone while you enjoy your trip away.  You may be at a higher risk of it being stolen – maybe from your hotel or from your luggage.  And it might well be damaged – have you ever seen how the baggage handlers actually handle your suitcases?

We offer international cover – whether you are away for business or pleasure – for up to 60 days in any 12 month period.

So make sure you get yourself covered and protected with a solid mobile phone insurance

Just About To Lose Your Phone…..

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Imagine if you owned a very expensive mobile phone or maybe you already do, and something happened that meant you needed to make a split second decision regarding saving your prized possession.

It could be anything such as your phone falling into a pond or river or down a drain. It can even be something as bad as a mugger trying to steal your phone. Whatever it is, it’s easy to understand how on the spur of the moment, you need to make a split second decision about what to do next.

Do you jump into the pond or river to try and save your phone? Do you try and squeeze down the the drain to retrieve your expensive item and do you refuse to hand over your expensive mobile phone to the mugger? All of these problems faces owners of expensive mobile phones each day and in particular the the theft of mobile phones is the number one crime in the UK.

It’s obvious that taking the wrong course of action could endanger your life. However when a split second decision is required we do not always make the right choice. The cost of replacing such an expensive item flashes into our minds and clouds our decision-making. We then find ourselves more willing than necessary to risk our lives for the sake of a few hundred pounds.

Imagine now, that we have backed up all the important data such as contacts etc. from the Iphone and have purchased a good insurance which covers loss or damage and theft. Now, when faced with any of the above situations, the first priority will not be the cost of having to replaces the item, because you will immediately think its not worth risking my life over it as I have insurance. Insuring your expensive Iphone really makes perfect sense.

Worth Risking Your Life ?

Friday, May 29th, 2009

How far do you go to save your mobile phone? It’s crazy the things that happen simply for the sake of saving or retrieving your phone.

I know of an incident that happened near where I used to live and it was also widely reported in the local papers. A teenager was a passenger in the back of his friend’s car, and was holding his phone out of the window as they drove, trying to get a signal. Obviously, he dropped the phone, but as he did, he instinctively lunged against the door to try and catch it and the door popped open. He never made it.

I read a couple of other stories recently. One concerned 2 pals who were fishing on a lake when one dropped his phone. He jumped in to retrieve it (whatever possesses anyone to believe that their phone will ever work again?). Finding it difficult to see or swim in the slime filled lake, his friend jumped in to help him. Another fisherman came to rescue them both, but only one survived.

Some might find this equally tragic story just a tiny bit amusing. A man dropped his phone down a drain. Unfortunately it was to a sewer, but he still tried to retrieve his phone. Removing the drain cover, he edged inside with his arms above his head…and got firmly stuck. Passers-bye called the fire brigade who managed to get him out (he was a very big man) but he had already drowned.

It’s fair to say, that if all these people (and the 800,000 people in the UK who drop their phones into the toilet each year) had their mobile phones insured and the data on the sim card backed up on their pc’s (it’s easy) then they would not be so willing to put their lives at risk.

Knowing your have mobile insurance, and it’s insured for theft, water damage, loss or any other accidental damage gives peace of mind. It will certainly make you think twice before risking your life.
