Over 1.5 Million Phones Lost Yearly

It's not until you become the unfortunate victim of a mobile phone loss, theft or breakage that you begin to realise one of two things. Either just how important it was that you insured your phone, or you realise just how stupid you are that you didn't insure your phone.
At the time you buy your phone, the retailer will almost certainly try to sell you an insurance. There are two problems with this. First of all, you will be so interested in the features of your new phone and getting it home to have it up and running that purchasing insurance is an inconvenience.

The second and main problem is that getting your phone insured at the place you buy your phone is probably going to be quite a bit more expensive (and cover you for quite a bit less) than a specialist online insurance.
Over one and a half million phones are lost or stolen every year. In particular, the iPhone is such a great target for theives. The fact that its a superb phone packed with the latest technology makes it very desirable.

But it's equally desirable to criminals, so if you own such a phone, getting it insured against these risks should be a priority.
Make sure the policy covers you for loss, theft and damage as a minimum.
In addition, better policies should cover you against water damage, the cost of any fraudulent calls made from your phone after being stolen, as well as cover for all of the above when travelling abroad.

How Important Is It To Insure A Mobile Phone?

As you are probably all aware there is a huge rise recently in the theft of mobile phones When you also consider that almost all of the mobile phone makers are producing and designing increasingly complex and sophisticated phones, it's easy to understand how this particular type of theft is becoming more and more of a problem

Did you know, that every 2 minutes a mobile phone is stolen in the UK? As well as the fact that your phone will cost you a lot of money to replace, breaking or damaging your phone beyond repair is an incredible inconvenience due to the fact that you will probably lose all your personal details and stored contacts.

Your phone is now quite precious to you, and so is the information you keep inside it.

Even the procedure you must follow if you are unfortunate enough to have your phone stolen or damaged is simple In the case of theft you must report the incident to your police station to get an incident number which should be submitted along with the claim forms.

It could be that you are the type of person to leave your phone behind on the bus or drops it onto the floor If so mobile phone insurance is certainly for you It's doubtful whether or not your household insurance policy will provide proper cover for your mobile phone The Legal & General carried out a recent survey which revealed that whilst 22% had their mobile phones insured, only 17% had life insurance.

A couple of safeguards you can take are to make sure you record your phones IMEI number and to use an ultraviolet security marker to write your postcode and number of your house in a discreet place such as under the battery.

It is therefore most important that you take out a good insurance especially if your phone is one of the expensive models Do not be fooled by the sales man or woman in the shop where you bought your phone They receive extra commission for selling insurance which it is generally much more expensive than you can get online, as well as not offering as beneficial a package.

Phone Insurance

Do you own a mobile phone? It's a pretty good guess that you certainly do because, let's face it we all have a mobile. If you are one of the more fortunate people who owns a nice spanking new expensive phone you really should consider mobile phone insurance.

It's amazing the things that can go wrong when you least expect it. Mobile phone theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the UK and it's not always the fact that you are standing there with your phone in your hand speaking into it for it to be stolen. It could be in your handbag or your bum bag or briefcase, anywhere in fact. It can be stolen as part of another larger theft.

Damage to your phone can occur in many ways. The most obvious is dropping your phone on to the ground or hard surface. One incredible statistic which springs to mind although I don't remember the exact number involves the number of mobile phones dropped down the toilet each year in the UK.

Now, I'm not sure if you've ever managed to drop your phone down the toilet because neither have I. The one thing I do know is that you will be very lucky indeed if your phone works again after being submerged underwater.

Mobile Insurance gives you tremendous piece of mind. I don't mean you can be blasé about your phone as indeed any of your personal belongings simply because they are insured, however if you are one of those people I spoke of earlier with an expensive phone you will save your self an awful lot of money if anything bad indeed does happen.

iPhone Insurance

If you own your own an iPhone then you should most likely get iPhone insurance to protect it.

The great thing about the iPhone is that it is the top of the range coolest phone...

The worst thing about the iPhone is... being top of the range it is very expensive to replace.

This is why you need iPhone insurance to cover it.

If you have iPhone insurance protection then you can relax a bit more about losss, theft and iphone damage. Sure you need to take care of your iPhone but it will be good to know you are covered with iPhone insurance.

Phone insurance fraud

Phone insurance fraud is what some people commit when they make bogus claims against their phone insurance.

This is completely illegal and something that the Police are actively against.

It often happens like this...

The person loses their phone or drops in it water...

They then go to their phone insurance policy Terms and realise that they are not covered for loss or theft...

They realise they are covered for theft (pretty much every phone insurance policy covers theft).

So they say their phone was stolen.

This is totally illegal and could well land them with a massive fine if not a jail sentence.

This is why you wnat to make sure your phone insurance does have loss and water damage and anything else that you think is important to you as part of your phone insurance
